Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to own quality for smart thermostat ecosystem, including Android & iOS mobile applications, backend services, and cloud-connected HVAC devices. This role requires strong leadership, deep mobile automation expertise, and hands-on experience with the Maestro framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QA efforts for smart thermostat Android & iOS applications
- Define QA strategy, test plans, and automation roadmap for mobile and backend systems
- Design, develop, and maintain mobile automation using Maestro (mandatory)
- Validate mobile app ↔ cloud ↔ thermostat device workflows
- Perform API testing and automation for device commands, telemetry, and user flows
- Ensure correctness of HVAC control logic, schedules, modes, and edge cases
- Execute and oversee functional, regression, integration, and release testing
- Support OTA-related flows from app and backend perspective
- Mentor junior QA engineers and review test cases & automation code
- Work closely with Mobile, Backend and DevOps teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Maestro framework (mandatory)
- Proven experience testing Android & iOS mobile apps
- Experience with Appium or other mobile automation frameworks (plus)
- Strong knowledge of API testing (Postman/Newman or similar)
- Experience validating IoT / smart device ecosystems
- Understanding of cloud-based systems and backend integrations
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong debugging & analytical skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with IoT, smart home, or thermostat/HVAC products
- CI/CD integration for mobile automation
- Exposure to performance or reliability testing
